Hello egg hunters of Roblox, WoodReviewer here. It is that time of year again, when the birds start chirping and bunnies start laying eggs for a week. Yup, is time for the 2017 Roblox Egg Hunt. Or was. The eggs are disabled now since the event is over, and in hindsight I probably should have done this review earlier instead of just sitting on it for two weeks, but oh well. But who made this egg hunt this year? Well it was EBR this year. So how was their wood grain?
If you guessed anything besides “bad” go directly to jail, do not pass go. This roof is but one example of many I found, where the grain for the planks on the top goes from side to side, but the grain on the leading edge goes vertical.
This wasn’t the only example of bad wood grain in the egg hunt, or even this map. This chair also had bad wood grain, with the grain on the back/seat not following the curve of the chair, but instead going perpendicular to the curve.
Unfortunately, the bad wood grain was not limited to Mr. Popper’s Fun Land as it also spread to the Fire Nation. This little chest thing in the secret cult area had improper wood grain on the diagonal supports. In a perfect non-EBR world, the grain should connect each corner of the box, not be perfectly aligned to one side of the box.
Elsewhere in the Fire Nation, the burnt up trees around the map were incorrect. They should have the wood grain all aligned the same direction for the entirety of the tree.
The next problem area in the game was in King Neptune’s Lair. The main problem here was with the small piece of trim by my feed, under the railings. I may be wrong since I couldn’t see the entire boat, by by how it looks this board should have horizontal grain the connects between the railing supports, not vertical grain.
And while the big boat may not have had improper wood grain, the small one did. Not much, but the grain on the bottom of the hull has an awkward zig-zag effect from the union/mesh that made it.
One last issue I noticed was in the hub/spawn world, where this piece of railing support has mis-match grain, with some parts of the grain being vertical, other parts horizontal. This continued on the wooden planks below the railing supports.
But overall, that was most of the bad wood grain. There were a few more examples here and there of repeated examples of bad wood grain, such as with other trees being wrong, but overall this was OK. Especially for EBR. Especially since the game was basically half a dozen or so showcases connected with teleporters, and I can usually make an entire review based on a single show case. It isn’t like there was a hidden area or anything that had a bunch of bad wood grain, right?
Right?
