Hello there returning gift receivers of Roblox, WoodReviewer here with day one of my 2023 Advent Calendar. Yes, I am still doing this for the eighth time, and no, I have learned zero lessons from the last seven times I’ve done this to ensure the calendar opens up a relatively consistent time each day. Also after seven years of doing this I really am running out of good transitions to go from my opening spiel in each blog post into the actual gift, so what is inside for day one this year?

Why it is a bookcase. Is there any reason why a bookcase is the first item this year? Well, no. This was just the first thing to pop into my mind due to the fact I have been looking into buying/building a new bookcase recently, and as stated above I am really not prepared for this calendar again.

This bookcase is fairly simple, with two large side panels and a decent sized back panel, with the shelves attached to little supports attached directly to the sides. One neat thing I did to give the bookcase a bit more detail was to have the shelves be a slightly lighter color than the sides, along with a front detail for the shelves to hide the supports from a frontal view, and also give more contrast with the color difference.

One more less noticeable detail is on the trim on the bottom and the crown on top of the bookcase. They both have the same curve, meaning it is possible for them to have been cut from the same piece of wood, either indicating a craftsman trying to make something more complex while saving money, or a factoring just trying to save money. In either case, it is an interesting detail I thought I’d point out for the few of you that actually read these posts.

Anyway, that is all for today’s post. As I mentioned above, after seven years I have used up all the good intros and outros I can easily come up with, so there isn’t really any smooth way to end this post.
