Hello there fellow EBR haters of Roblox, WoodReviewer here with my most recent review of the EBR Wheel of Woodshame, this time featuring Inkwave’s UGC Homestore by Inkwave. As it has been a while since my last EBR Wheel of Woodshame I should probably do a quick refresher on what exactly this entails. You see, EBR, also known as the Elite Builders of Robloxia, is an elite group of elite Roblox builders that are known for their elite builds that feature the most elite building possible on Roblox. As a result of them being so elite they should have no problem passing my simple tasks and have nothing but the best possible wood grain in their games. As a result the Wheel of Woodshame is a virtual wheel that isn’t really a wheel but me just clicking on EBR members profiles at random and checking out their showcases for bad wood grain. Does this cause me to feature the more recent members because they are in the front page of the members list and as a result make this less random? Yes. But I never said the wheel was fair. So with that intro out of the way, let’s see how I leave did.
Normally when I do these reviews I try and make the order of the wood grain make some sense, either by telling a story about the place of by showing how I experienced the bad wood grain in the order that I experienced it in-game. But I am just going to skip that for now and point out that the game has bad wood grain on signs. If you have read any of my recent reviews of the revamped Roblox events, or day 25 of my 2024 Advent Calendar you would know my deep hatred of games that have bad wood grain signs due to how easy that it is to fix. But here we are, reviewing a build of a member of the Elite Builders of Robloxia, and there it is. Bad wood grain on a sign post. I could end the review here honestly and I could make my point, but I worry that would create a bad precedent for other of the elite members of the Elite Builders of Robloxia that just by having one sign they can make the rest of their showcase safe from me, and I want them all to remember that nothing is safe from me.

To give a fresh start to this review, the first piece of bad wood grain that I actually saw when I entered the game was this lamp post. The main issue with it was that the main vertical post has horizontal wood grain on it.

“But WoodReviewer” you might be thinking “this is some special kind of sci-fi magic wood that grows with wood grain in the wrong direction?”
And you know what? Good try. If you go back and check I do claim that if all the wood in a game is completely wrong than the game does, begrudgingly, pass my test. However the horizontal beam supporting the light then undos this theory completely as the beam has not only horizontal but vertical wood grain on a single part. That is so far outside the realm of possible that it negates any possibility of the weird sci-fi wood being a thing and let’s me ignore that theory entirely for the rest of this post.

Moving on through the showcase the next example of bad wood grain I saw was on the arch for this bridge. The main issue with the arch is that the wood should have the grain curve in some way otherwise the entire area under the arch was cut out of some massive tree. I could explain this more but I am currently traveling and typing this on my phone right now so just trust me what I say it is bad. Trust me, there is enough bad wood grain that one slightly questionable thing won’t save this game.

Moving into the actual meat of this home store, the actual areas where the UHC items are stored, the first issue I saw was with these large wooden slabs acting as stairs. While the wood grain on the top is fine and admittedly impressive with some additional textures added to make the wood seem extra rough.

if you look very closely at the front of the slabs you will see that the front wood grain is incorrect. The grain here should follow the grain on the top of the slab, going across the staircase, but instead it is vertical.

Speaking of issues with slabs, once you get to the top of the stairs the wooden slabs continue, but this time the top face is wrong. It is hard to see as the secondary roughness texture Inkwave added really helps to hide the actual wood texture, but if you look at it just right with a light shining on the wood then the secondary texture disappears and you see the true wood grain.

And you look at that, the grain is perpendicular to the length of the wooden boards, not parallel. This is bad wood grain and just one more thing to further condemn this game.

Next up is this vertical beam on the corner of the home store and the doorway. Much like the sign post the wood grain here should be vertical, not horizontal, and much like the arched bridge the arched doorway should have the wood grain curve a bit, along with a majority of the arch not having horizontal wood grain entirely.

Moving on to the inside of one of the houses, aside for the beams that continued from the outside that are also visible on the inside the only unique issue that I saw was this frame piece below the UGC items. This frame piece was not only bad because the top face has improper wood grain but because the front face has the correct wood grain. That just makes it even worse as the correct answer is there, it was just ignored.

That last piece of bad wood grain I want to bring to attention in this home store is this ladder. For those of you who are curious the center of this map was a massive tree with a tree house in the middle, but I didn’t show it because it didn’t have any more unique pieces of wood grain to show. Besides for this ladder. Again, the top face has bad wood grain, but the front face is correct. I’m not sure if these errors were intentional or not but in my opinion they look even worse than just having entirely bad wood grain.

And with that this review is done. If all the Elite Builders of Robloxia were still Elite the answer is yes. They are elite. Elite in having bad wood grain. And to those EBR members who want to avoid my wrath don’t worry, all you have to do to avoid my wrath is to use proper wood grain. That isn’t too hard, right?
