The next biome on my journey slowly around the map of The Hatch is the Earth Biome. This biome was one of the oddest for me as some games were done on the first day of the event, and others were done on the last, with some others in the middle scattered throughout the days. So if some of my other biomes seem mostly coherent rest assured this one will be the most incoherent.
Eat a Huge Waffle by Blockpit
We are off to a good start with the Earth Biome. First off, I like eating waffles. Secondly, someone got the memo that you should make sign posts out of cylinders because it is really hard to screw up the wood grain on them unless you do something silly with CSG or meshes. Which Blockpit didn’t do.
Verdict: Passes
Zombie Zone by Axius Studios™
And after a single game out long streak of a single game with proper wood grain ends in the Earth Biome. This time it is with another fairly rare issue that is now turning up more and more, the wood grain on this baseball bat is wrong. The grain should go from the handle to the end.

The Chosen One by TomazDev
While I understand that UGC and voxel stuff is hard to make with proper wood grain, I feel that by this point I have made it clear that I don’t care about the excuse, I want proper wood grain. Anyway, the top face on these wooden board should follow the front and side faces on the side and go between the two large vertical supports.
Verdict: Fail
Clothing Store Simulator by Magic Market
The first of two store simulators that copy the popular genre of store simulators on Steam, Clothing Store Simulator unfortunately also copies normal Roblox games with the bad wood grain on this door frame.

The Floor is ACID by Banana Studios Something
Oh look another game that is all smooth plastic. You know what that means.
Verdict: Pass
Horse Life by Sonar Studios/Twin Atlas
The first game in The Hunt made by the developers behind the main hub in The Hatch, I always have high expectations for Twin Atlas, and yet they always seem to drop the ball when it comes to wood grain in their games. Anyway this is another example of the ball being dropped with the back frame for this sign in horse life having bad bad wood grain on the vertical posts.
Verdict: Fail
Kitten Game by Bro_IsThisReal
Unfortunately yes, the bad wood grain on this pier is real. Seriously, stop using meshes instead of cylinders. You are just inviting yourself to use bad wood grain then.

Goal Battle by KoliSoft
The game is mostly smooth plastic. Unless there are rotating maps that I couldn’t see it looks fine.
Verdict: Passes
Cart Ride Delivery Service by Square Helix
Another rare game that falls into the category of having wood grain that is actually correct, the proper wood grain here is on the rail buffers. The vertical, horizontal, and diagonal wood grain is all good here. Look at this other games, it is possible.
Verdict: Passes
PETAPETA: School of Nightmares by Omochi_Studio’s PETA PETA
I still don’t know what a PETAPETA is, why it is spelled different in the group name versus the game name, and despite the fact it is a horror game it is now ruined for me because the name reminds me of a guy from Boston saying referring to Peter from Family Guy. Anyway, the game mode teleports here have bad wood grain.
Verdict: Fail
SCP: Site Roleplay by SCP: Site Roleplay Community
Another SCP game, another new way for an SCP game to have bad wood grain. This time it is with the vertical supports on these wooden crates being bad, along with the mirror being messed up.
Verdict: Fail
Rebirth Champions: Ultimate by Powerful Studio
Oh hey guess what another game that passes my test because it is all smooth plastic. Also cow.
Verdict: Pass
Toilet World Roleplay 2 by Toilet World Roleplay Community
I can’t believe this, but this toilet roleplay game passes my test because I couldn’t find any wood in the game at all. So enjoy it I guess.

Bomborido Crocodilo Prison Run Obby Escape by Lumen Works
I have no idea if the spelling in this game name is correct, and I apologize to any Italians I offended by having to type that out. But if it makes you happy just know this game sucks because it has bad wood grain on this board near one of the spawn areas.

Animal Life: Forest RP by Humongous!
Normally when I play some type of animal role play game I expect for their to either not be any bad wood grain, or that the only bad wood grain is some bad tree bark because there isn’t much wood that occurs naturally in the wild. Unfortunately this game did a hybridization of human and animal roles and as a result the game had man-made structures the failed the animals.
Verdict: Fail
Destroy the Tower by Super Tall Games
So I have no idea whose idea it was to make the entire interior of a skyscraper out of wood, but whoever did it you suck because this wood grain sucks. The stairs, for example, should have grain going across the steps, not from the front to back.

Dragon Adventures by Sonar Studios/Twin Atlas
The second Twin Atlas game to be features in this event, I cheated a bit and checked the trading area because in the past they’ve had bad wood grain down there. And to the developers credit, it was overhauled to remove the bad wood grain that I had issues with. However, they added a new issue with the bars and from shelf on this little egg dispenser thing having bad wood grain, so try again I guess.
Verdict: Fail
Restaurant Tycoon 2 by UltraW
The second game in this event by UltraW, Restaurant Tycoon 2 has been mostly replaced by 3 but is still here because 3 is still in paid access. Anyway, 2 still has a ton of issues in the various assets you can place around your restaurant, like the cross beams on the large wooden table being incorrect.
Verdict: Fail
Anime Fruit by Immortal Sect
Oh boy an anime fighting game. Do you guess what this game has? If you guessed over done particles while also having a wooden crate that has bad wood grain you are correct.
Verdict: Fail
Flying Gorilla Obby by Flying Gorilla Obby
Am I bitter because this game took 20 minutes to complete the level in order to collect the egg? Maybe. Will I hold it against the game? Maybe. Does that have anything to do with me failing the game because it has bad wood grain on sign posts? No. Trust me, it doesn’t.
Verdict: Fail
My Prison by Windburst
Another prison based game, My Prison is the first one not based on being in prison but rather putting people in prison. It also is the first to have no wood grain and as a result it passes my test.
Verdict: Pass
Clone Kingdom Tycoon by Elemental XYZ
One of the more unique tycoons in The Hatch, Clone Kingdome Tycoon decides to ruin any good will I had towards it by adding this sign for The Hatch which has bad wood grain on its vertical supports. Also the top face is incorrect aswell.
Verdict: Fail
Anime Slashing Simulator by Swansa x Peaceful Play
I’m not sure why a game about slashing people is named by someone called Peaceful Play, but I have to give them credit: The game was entirely smooth plastic and had no bad wood grain.
Verdict: Pass
Cinnamoroll Cloud Land RP by Rock Panda Games
Another game with a weird creature you raise, I’m not too sure what this one is supposed to be based on the name alone. But the game is all smooth plastic so that is all I need to care about right now.
Verdict: Pass
Rogue Demon by Rogue Demon Team
A more typical RPG game, Rogue Demon does a lot to have a good presentation when you start playing the game. However one thing it does poorly is that it has bad wood grain on this little tent thing and on the lamp post next to it.

Countryball World by MorphForge
A meme that I haven’t heard of in several years, I was surprised to see a Countryball game in The Hatch. Even more surprised that it was one of the few games to have an actual quest involved with getting the egg. Unfortunately the game was ruined for my by the bad end grain on this wooden plank trim in a building.
Verdict: Fail
Plane Training by Sky is Limit
Oh boy another game where you have to walk on a treadmill to get faster. Only this time it isn’t a treadmill but flying through a wind tunnel on a plane. Still, same basic concept, and the same no-wood grain smooth plastic world.
Result: Pass
Beat Bounce by Calf Productions
Remember how I mentioned it is really hard to have an entirely UI based game have bad wood grain? Well if you didn’t read through the other 409 games in this event I said it. Anyway, Beat Bounce is either all GUI or has some really strong 2D camera stuff going on and as a result has no bad wood grain.
Result: Pass
Color Game by Slime Time Creations
Oh boy. This map again. Anyway, it is all smooth plastic just like the other 4 times this game was in the event.
Result: Pass
DriveX by Powerhouse Production
DriveX is a massive open world driving game set somewhere in the middle east, but somehow has COTA. Anyway, while it may have wood grain somewhere I spent like 5 minutes getting the egg and didn’t see any, so good job on hiding it from me atleast.
Verdict: Pass
Airsoft Battles by Stealth Developers
So I know like four games ago I mentioned how hard it was to have bad wood grain on a game that is entirely UI but if you want an example of how it is possible here is one. The AK-47 here has bad wood grain on the pistol grip, even though it is just an image of one in a UI element. Anyway, that still counts.
Verdict: Fail
Streetz War 2 by Streetz War 2
Another street fighting game, Street Warz 2 is also let down by a fairly minor issue. In this case it is bad end grain on these wooden planks for the counter.
Verdict: Fail
Maple Hospital my Marizma Games
Another game that is like 95% smooth plastic, the only example of wood grain I found was on this children’s booster seat. Which has bad wood grain on the supports. This is bad as the entire purpose of the booster seat is to stop a child from falling onto the ground which is hard if the entire seat falls.
Verdict: Fail
Midnight Chasers: Highway Racing by Midnight In-Dev
One of the interesting things about Roblox is the expectation that for any game, even games where the entire gameplay loop takes place in cars, that you should be able to freely walk around as you character. As a result game makers need to make places you can walk into, like this little shop that has bad wood grain on the side of this counter.
Verdict: Fail
ESCAPE MR. STINKY DETENTION OBBY by Decent Obbies
Another obby where you have to escape a weird guy, this one has some bad wood grain as soon as you start the game with the side part of this chalkboard being bad. Also the lip that holds the chalk and eraser are bad, but that isn’t as obvious.
Verdict: Fail

Oh boy this game again. Anyway the frame for the teleporter is still bad, just like the other 4 copies of basically this exact same game.

Clone Friends by Cooked Studio
The game is all smooth plastic. I have nothing witty to add other than that the devs really cooked with that smooth plastic.

Escape Papa Pizza’s Pizzeria by Platinum Falls
If you thought me starting the obby in Mr Stinky was too much gameplay to find bad wood grain, in this game I don’t even have to load into the game before I see that the rolling pin has bad wood grain.

TPS Ultimate Soccer by TAYFUN7
TPS Ultimate Soccer is another sports game and for whatever reason all the sports games on Roblox can’t help but to try and shoehorn wood grain into into locker rooms for no reason. In this case they used wood for these benches, which have bad end grain on the wooden planks.
Verdict: Fail
Cultivation Mortal to Immortal by Firefly Simulator
Based on the general vibe of this place I assume it is heavily influenced by some Eastern Asian story that I do not have any knowledge of. And because they are in the far east they probably won’t read this, but it was part of the event so I feel obligated to review it. Anyway the outer piece of wooden trim on this playform shouldn’t be one large piece of wood but rather several smaller pieces as the current angles on the indicidual segments is bad.

I forget if I found this table in the main lobby or if I joined a map to try and find bad wood grain because I know the game has had bad wood grain from previous events. In any case, this table has bad wood grain on the table legs.

Paradise RP by Cazeby
The final game in the Earth Biome, Paradise RP has some pretty bog standard bad wood grain on this little counter top and on the table to my left barely in view. It isn’t much, but it still counters.
