Boom Boom- Rocketeers

Hello there Abraham Lincoln fans of Roblox, WoodReviewer here for a review of Rocketeers by Badimo. And by Badimo I mostly mean Asimo3089 since Badcc doesn’t build. For long time readers of this blog, one I’m sorry for wasting so much of your time, and two you should be familiar with my long rivalry with Asimo over his love of using improper wood grain in games, insisting he won’t do it again, and then doing it again in his next game. So, how is the wood grain in Rocketeers?

Well, it wasn’t good at first. You see, one on the map Jungle there was this floor that was made with wooden planks, and normally the end of the planks would be completely hidden. However, due to the nature of the game you can blow up the floor and see the end grain, and upon the initial release of the game it was bad.

However, credit to Asimo, shortly after I pointed this out on Twitter it was fixed.

Granted this isn’t really visible anymore since the old spawn room is now locked behind a door, so that is another way to fix the problem.

So with that fix being made that obviously means Asimo is paying attention to the wood grain and the rest of the wood grain in the game is correct, right? Well no. These signs have bad wood grain on their vertical posts.

What’s worse is that these signs are in multiple maps telling people where to go, and all of them have improper wood grain on their vertical posts.

And that is all the wood grain. So, how is the wood grain? Overall it is bad. That is all I have to say about the game really, class is dismissed, everyone is free to leave besides Asimo. We need to have a little chat below. Everyone else please leave the room so this is just between the two of us.

Hi Asimo. I know you are still reading this because I live rent free in your head. We need to have a little talk: Are you OK? We’ve been playing this game for eight years to the day now, and yet you still struggle with wood grain. Obviously it is funny to dunk on new devs who have no experience with games about wood grain or egotistical devs who just ignore wood grain because it is beneath them, but you are different. You are one of the few devs that was around for the classic blocky era of Roblox that still mostly builds their games. Sure, StickMasterLuke, Crazyman32, and GollyGreg are still around, but for the most part all of the old guard has either left or moved onto mostly coding their games. Even most of the devs that replaced them that used to be the target of my hate, like Beeism and HolidayPwner, have mostly moved on to more behind-the scenes stuff or UGC. Then for games that blew up after Jailbreak, like Adopt Me and Bloxburg, that have nameless staff working on them who work as a team, not a single person who directs 95% of the games style. Yet here you are, still the main builder in your games.

And this has been working great for you, don’t get me wrong. No other dev has had as much success as you have had throughout every era of Roblox. You were around for the classic blocky era with some success, thrived in the C-Framing era where your games were the go-to showcases Roblox used to show off their engine, thrived in the CSG era of Roblox when you made several commissions for Roblox including the old avatar editor background, helped usher in the mesh era of Roblox with Jailbreak, the biggest game on the platform for several years that still has a player count some multi-million dollar games would kill for, and now with Rocketeers and your Marble Rider game you appear to continuing to progress your style.

So why is wood grain so hard?

By this point you have mastered nearly half a dozen different styles of building within Roblox, yet wood grain still confuses you. We’re not talking about anything advanced or trickery, this is just wooden posts. You can’t say it is because of old habits because the way you build today is completely different from how you built the games I first critiqued you on eight years ago. The bad havbts you have with wood grain shouldn’t survived such massive changes in how you build. Also, with Badcc at your disposal you can have him spend an hour or so and he can probably build the best wood-grain correction plugin out there.

Will this plugin fix everything and be perfect? No. But it has been eight years now and I am running out of other ways to get you to fix your wood grain. Calling you out in blogs hasn’t worked. Embarrassing you in front of other devs on Discord hasn’t worked. Even stealing your game and fixing all the wood grain myself hasn’t worked, so how many more ways can I try and get you to change, or will we have to do this dance forever?

I absolutely agree with you WoodReviewer, he should learn his lesson finally and correct his mistakes for once and for all.
    Or he shall perish.
