Hello there lovers of some sports that I am worried about mentioning due to copyright laws that I really don’t want to have to deal with, WoodReviewer here to take a look at Olympic World presented by Visa by the Olympics. Yes, 16 years after Roblox played with fire by doing some slightly questionable copyright infringement, the Olympics now have an official game on Roblox, presented by Visa. So, with the largest international sporting body behind it, does Olympic World presented by Visa have proper wood grain?
No.
The first example of bad wood grain that I found in the game was right near the spawn in Olympic World presented by Visa, specifically the small weight lifting area. The issues here are on the pergola over the actually exercise area. The vertical supports have bad wood grain, and additionally the the top of rafters have improper wood grain, going front to back relative to me in the picture, instead of side to side like the front face of the rafters. From my years of experience of yelling at devs on Discord, I believe this is likely due to the pergola being made by duplicating bricks and resizing them to make the structure, rather than rotating the rafters so the grain faces the proper direction. This would be a quick fix with part flip, or an even quicker fix if they were properly rotated while building when duplicating the rafters.

Staying in the spawn area of Olympic World presented by Visa, the next example of bad wood grain that I saw was on this post for some various flags/banners. To be honest, I forget what exactly was on top of these poles, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that the poles themselves have bad wood grain, with the wood grain being horizontal rather than vertical.

Speaking of improper horizontal wood grain on some vertical posts. These posts are in the Olympic Village area of Olympic World presented by Visa, and while I am not sure what exactly the purpose of this empty glass building is, I do know that the vertical supports on the windows lack proper wood grain. They have horizontal wood grain rather than the proper vertical wood grain they should have.

The next example of bad wood grain that I came across in Olympic World presented by Visa was this decorative snake thing overhand thing. To be completely honest I have no real idea what exactly this is called, all I know is that the top had improper wood grain. The wood grain here is more diagonal than from one end of the beam to the other, and due to the fact all off the pieces have the grain going the same direction this is probably due to all the pieces being part of one mesh. While fixing this would require breaking up the mesh or using UVs for the mesh, that is something that should be done.

Next up is a combination of all the previous issues I saw in Olympic World presented by Visa: Bad wood grain on vertical supports, bad wood grain on a curved structure, and bad wood grain on a pergola, as seen on what I believe is this curved pergola.

Wrapping up the main lobby part of Olympic World presented by Visa is this stage in the tight-rope walking area. Here the problem is with the end grain of the wooden planks that make up the stage, the end grain should have the boards be vertical so that it looks like the gaps on the end match up with the gaps on the top.

Next up it is time to move outside of the main lobby for Olympic World presented by Visa, first with the infinite runner mini-game. It is a bit hard to see because the texture is a bit faded and due to the nature of the game it was difficult to get a decent screenshot, but the sides of the vertical post have horizontal wood grain instead of vertical wood grain. As this fruit stand clearly looks as if it has a UV mesh, this should be a fairly easy and quick fix to make.

The last area of the game that there is to look at in Olympic World presented by Visa is the Smash Ball area. However, after trying to queue for a game for like 45 minutes I eventually gave up on getting into a match, so here is an artistic interpretation of what I believe the mini-game should look like, with proper wood grain because I guess I can’t dock points for what I can’t play.

Well, that was most of Olympic World presented by Visa. Overall, it wasn’t very good, with a ton of bad wood grain scattered around what is overall a fairly small map. Sure, it doesn’t have quite the bad wood grain density of most EBR builds, but it also has large parts of the map just without any wood grain at all, making those areas with the bad wood grain all the more noticeable. Hopefully by 2028 Olympic World presented by Visa will feature less bad wood grain.
Or maybe Winter Olympic World presented by Visa in 2026 will be better? Either way, my point is there is plenty of room for improvement.

this was truly a Olympic World presented by Visa experience, I hope that the Olympic World presented by Visa will continuously become a better Olympic World presented by Visa
