Hello there classic game lovers of Roblox WoodReviewer here, and recently I’ve noticed people noticing a trend of people noticing that some game devs are noticing that people like old Roblox building styles included into games and as a result they just add studs randomly to their games. Inspired by that I’ve decided that today was a good day to go visit my good friends at the Elite Builders of Robloxia and see how some of their classic games hold up. Today’s unlucky victim of my wrath is xiayurei and their showcase Globe Theatre, a recreation of the modern day recreation of Shakespeare’s original Globe Theatre. Although the Globe Theatre isn’t a super old game, dating to 2013 rather than the 2009 era that most of the current nostalgia merchants are aiming for. So, is the wood grain from older Roblox actually better than from modern Roblox?
Well, no, being a classic game does not stop games from having bad wood grain. If it did then there would never have been a reason for me to exist in the first place. This Globe Theatre remake is no different, starting with the supports for the main stage. These supports, plus the supports on the small railing on the stage also are wrong.

Moving on from the stage to the actual seating area of the theatre there was wood grain everywhere in the stands. The most obvious issue with the stands are these wooden pillars. They should have vertical wood grain but instead they have horizontal wood grain.

Standing in almost the same exact spot but looking up the next issue. The horizontal supports in the ceiling should have wood grain that follows the length of the beam but instead it goes perpendicular to the beam.

Moving onto the the next level of the theatre, the first issue I noticed in the stairwell was this vertical pillar right in the middle of the window. It should have vertical wood grain. Additionally the diagonal supports near the sides of the image are also wrong, the wood grain should go with the length of the boards, not perpendicular to the length of the boards.

Next up is an issue back inside the theatre, specifically with the supports for the stairs. The wood grain on the support beams should go up as if acting like a ramp for the stairs.

If you need a good example of how this would look, here is an example from a different staircase inside the theatre. I don’t know why exactly, but this other staircase proper wood grain on the stair stringers. Why is this one correct while the other is incorrect? No clue, but at least it is good for showing you how it should go.

Moving on, the next issue I noticed was on this grated window above the main stage which has improper wood grain. Here the problem is that the vertical parts of the grate have horizontal wood grain while the horizontal parts have vertical wood grain. Additionally the vertical supports for the railings also are wrong.

It is a bit hard to see there, but this is a better picture of it. Also the vertical beams for the next floor here also have bad wood grain, but I already touched on those beams before so there is nothing new to add here.

The last bit of bad wood grain I found in the Globe came from the very top of the roof, with these horizontal beams having incorrect wood grain.

So, how is the wood grain overall? Not very good. In fact, the only slightly redeeming part of it is that because the place predates CSG becoming popular and user meshes all of the issues in the game can be fixed with MaterialFlip fairly quick and painlessly.

the wood is all wrong!!! 😡
