Field Trip-Midnight in Japan

Hello there not so Elite Builders of Robloxia, WoodReviewer here again to mindless bash some random member of the Elite Builders of Robloxia for not apparent reason other than the fact they are in a group whose name makes it seem like they have a large ego. No I am not bitter. Anyway, today’s unfortunate victim is 05HIJIN and his showcase Midnight in Japan. Is there any real reason to why I choose this game over any others? Not really, this was just the first game I saw after randomly scrolling through the members of EBR. Anyway enough rambling, let’s get onto the actual game.

The first thing that you see when you spawn into the game is this small storage area/abandoned garage area that is full of boxes. There is no wood grain here so I guess that is a good start to the game.

Unfortunately the good start is over once you leave the garage as you are greeted by this sign that has bad wood grain on it. It is a bit hard to see here due to the lighting effects in-game, but the A-Frame on the sign has horizontal wood grain while the grain should follow the angle of the wood.

If that sign isn’t obvious for you don’t worry, I have more. This door which is right behind the sign above has bad wood grain on the vertical door panels on the bottom half of the door. Additionally the large red pillars besides the door also have bad wood grain.

Moving inside of the little shop stall thing behind the doors you would hope that the wood grain would improve. But it doesn’t. The walls behind me have bad wood grain on the vertical framing, while the vertical boards to the right also have bad wood grain. Additionally, the wood grain on the tables in front of me are also bad.

But they are at least made of of individual bricks instead of a single wooden plank texture so that the end texture here is correct. Plus I don’t have to open Studio to make another graphic on how end grain on planks work because I still don’t have a master folder so save those useful demonstration images in and instead have to remake them every time, so that is a plus.

Moving on to the kitchen, the only problem that I found here was with this cutting board. Aside from the wood grain being wrong just from a normal sense, it is also wrong when you consider that it is a cutting board. I’ll probably talk about this one day but the TL;DR is you want the knife to cut perpendicular to the length of the grain on a cutting board to prevent the knives from splitting the board open like an ax does to lumber.

Moving on from the kitchen and back outside, the next issue that I came across was my on this crate, because of course a crate in an EBR game would have bad wood grain. The issue here is with the outer frame of the crate; all the grain on one side of the crate goes the same way. The parts should be separated so that each part of the frame goes the correct direction for if they are vertical, horizontal or diagonal.

Moving onto the next small building in this showcase the first issue I saw here was with these vertical supports right outside the front door.

Moving inside the next issue I noticed was on these shop shelves. The shelves have wood grain going from the front to the back of the shelf, when the grain should go from one side to the other to provide support between the shelf supports.

And that was more or less all the bad wood grain I saw here. I mean, sure there were some areas with other issues like this that had the door, shelves, and wooden walls from other areas make a reappearance, but it feels a bit like beating a dead horse to go go through all these issues again, so I’m just going to end it here.
