The Crates of Murder Mystery 2-Murder Mystery 2

Hello there murder mystery lovers of Roblox, WoodReviewer here to take a second look at Murder Mystery 2 by Nikilis. If you are interested in a proper review of Murder Mystery 2 I recommend looking at my previous review of it from 2016 because most of what I found is still wrong. I am not even joking, if it weren’t for outlines on the 2016 review and the switch to R16 I could probably pass off old images as images from the new review. Don’t believe me? Take a look below.

“Ok so the wood grain is bad, are you really going to just use this as an excuse to necrobump an old review?”

Well yes. But also no. I want to discuss something else that I noticed while looking at Murder Mystery 2: The wooden crates. You see wooden crates aren’t exactly uncommon in Roblox games and if I had to make a list of every game I’ve reviewed that has bad wooden crates it would be a pretty long list. So why do I want to focus on crates now? Well, because there are 4 different crates that I found in the game, and each one is different. Let’s start with crate 1.

This crate isn’t so much a crate as it is a box, but for the purpose of this review it is a crate. For the most part the main body of the crate is correct, but what is odd is that it has this weird wooden part going around the crate.

This almost feels like it should be some type of rope strap or something but it is made out of wood instead of anything that resembles any type of rope or strap out there. So, how is this crate bad? The vertical section of the strap facing the camera here had bad wood grain, and it should be at the very least vertical, if not some other material

Moving onto crate #2, this crate is a fairly basic square crate that is made with unions and has bad wood grain on the outer edges of the frame. Specifically, the vertical supports have bad wood grain and the segment that has the “Fragile” sticker has bad wood grain on the top and bottom of the horizontal support. But wait, it also has a cross brace on the other sides, and this brace is made out of parts and has correct wood grain. Usually when crates are made out of unions the cross braces always get messed up from unions, but because these braces are parts they are fine.

If you want a better example of what I am talking about just look here at Crate #3. It is a single union and as a result all of the wood grain on any given face all goes the same way. As an example the face towards my camera has horizontal wood grain, so the wood grain on the vertical supports, horizontal supports, and diagonal cross brace all have horizontal wood grain. For the horizontal supports this is fine, but for the diagonal brace and vertical supports this is wrong.

Moving onto the next and final crate, Crate #4, it is a big of a unique crate in that it is 2D. What does that mean? Well, it is the crate on the UI button for a players inventory.

A bit hard to see? Well worry not, here is a close-up look at it.

So, what is wrong with this crate?

Nothing.

As far as I can tell from this very small and somewhat compressed UI element, the crate is entirely correct, even the cross braces on all the sides.

Now I am sure some of you might be confused what any of this means. And in all honesty, it means I don’t have to do a review where I just retread all the bad wood grain from my old review in 2016 that may have slightly changes since, because honestly that is pretty boring.

But more than that this review is just meant to highlight the absurdity of how much bad wood grain there can be in games. Sure, it might be funny to see a single crate wrong in a game. Two crates might even get a chuckle. But three crates with bad wood grain while a fourth crate is laughing at you the entire time with proper wood grain? That is just sad.
