Field Trip-Midnight in Japan

Hello there not so Elite Builders of Robloxia, WoodReviewer here again to mindless bash some random member of the Elite Builders of Robloxia for not apparent reason other than the fact they are in a group whose name makes it seem like they have a large ego. No I am not bitter. Anyway, today’s unfortunate victim is 05HIJIN and his showcase Midnight in Japan. Is there any real reason to why I choose this game over any others? Not really, this was just the first game I saw after randomly scrolling through the members of EBR. Anyway enough rambling, let’s get onto the actual game.

The first thing that you see when you spawn into the game is this small storage area/abandoned garage area that is full of boxes. There is no wood grain here so I guess that is a good start to the game.

Mega Post-The Hatch Part 0

Hello there egg enjoyers of Roblox, WoodReviewer here with my look a The Hatch. Now before we start I just want to get one thing out of the way: This event was massive. It was so massive that while working on it my blog editor started to freeze up while I was barely 20% done with my blog post, so as a result I am breaking it up into several parts based on the biomes each egg is located in, plus another part for the hub world.

Also as a result of the length of these blog, I won’t be able to go over every common issue in depth, so here are some posts on some common issues that I will just breeze over in talking about individual games to save time/word count.

Trees-How Do They Work

Wooden Planks-The Basics

What Do I Want

Are they a bit outdated and need to be updated? Probably. But they get the general point across.

The Connection Biome-The Hatch Part 1

The first area that I looked at was the Connection Biome. This doesn’t matter much but is just useful for me to keep tract of how many games in each part of The Hatch have bad wood grain.

Indo Voice by Asosiasi Komunitas Roblox Indonesia

The first game I played in this massive undertaking is a Indonesian voice chat hangout. Not only was I impressed by the lack of bad wood grain, but I was also impressed by the fact that wood rings were added to these stumps. It is a nice touch that I would love to see in more game, and honestly this is the peak of this event and it is all down hill from here.

Verdict: Pass

Darkness Biome-The Hatch Part 2

The second area of The Hatch that I am taking a look at is the Darkness Biome. Again this means nothing really other than helping me keep tract of what games I’ve done, but if there is some trend of how the games are grouped just let me know.

Pop It Trading by ToysLiker

The first game in the the Darkness Biome that I played is Pop It trading. At first I thought this was going to be a repeat of the Connection Biome with the first place having correct wood grain again, but unfortunately for Pop It Trading the end grain on this wooden plank sign failed it. Is it barely visible for you to see the bad end grain? Yes. But barely visible is still visible.

Verdict: Fail

Light Biome-The Hatch Part 3

The last biome in Shifting Shores, again I have no idea if there was any method to the madness to how these games were grouped. But I am adding an intro paragraph for all these posts so I am committed to the bit at this point.

MotoRush! by MotoRush Inc

A returning game from a previous event where it had bad wood grain on some signs, MotoRush returns to The Hatch with more bad wood grain on signs. You would think this would be a fairly easy issue to fix but I guess not.

Verdict: Fail

Time Biome-The Hatch Part 4

The first biome that caused me pain while playing it due to the odd path finding you need to take to walk from the portal from spawn, this is another one of the more hefty biomes in terms of play count.

Play or Die by Badass Experiences

A returning friend from both previous reviews and previous events that has the most questionable name of any game maker in the event, Play or Die is probably a game. I’m not sure, I didn’t have to exit the lobby to get the egg. I also didn’t have to leave the lobby to find bad wood grain on these table legs.

Verdict: Fail

Energy Biome-The Hatch Part 5

The fifth biome that I am covering, the Energy Biome has a unique mechanic where you could zip along a wire from spawn to the teleport location. This was fun the first 3-4 times but got annoying by the 40th or so.

Infection Gunfight by 9thD Workshop

A returning game from The Hunt Second Edition, most people had a painful experience with Infection Gunfight the first time. But I must admit, this time around the game was much better. Gameplay wise. The wood grain still sucks.

Verdict: Fail

Earth Biome-The Hatch Part 6

The next biome on my journey slowly around the map of The Hatch is the Earth Biome. This biome was one of the oddest for me as some games were done on the first day of the event, and others were done on the last, with some others in the middle scattered throughout the days. So if some of my other biomes seem mostly coherent rest assured this one will be the most incoherent.

Eat a Huge Waffle by Blockpit

We are off to a good start with the Earth Biome. First off, I like eating waffles. Secondly, someone got the memo that you should make sign posts out of cylinders because it is really hard to screw up the wood grain on them unless you do something silly with CSG or meshes. Which Blockpit didn’t do.

Verdict: Passes

Water Biome-The Hatch Part 7

The Water Biome was painful for me to review as it involved swimming to the portal every time you rejoined it, and as anyone who has tried swimming in Roblox can tell you that sucks. Like the Earth Biome there were gaps between when I looked at these games, so my memory is sharper on some than others.

Horse Valley by Ming Horse Valley

Hey, I get to start off with a game I reviewed this past month. As a result my memory of the game was pretty good so I was able to instantly check some of the issues from my blog to see that no, they have not been fixed since I made it. Specifically the end grain on the crate is bad, because of course the crate is bad.

Fire Biome-The Hatch Part 8

The Fire Biome is the biome that probably took me more time than any other biome to complete due to starting and stopping it, but that is true for most of the of these biomes.

Conquer The World by Marian_Dev

The first game I completed in the Fire Biome, Conquer the World starts this biome off on a bad foot with having bad wood grain on the pistol grips of the guns that soldiers in-game can carry. It is a bit hard to see since the NPCs are covering most of it up with their hands, but trust me, it is bad.

Verdict: Fail
